Amazon.com yesterday opened the doors of its latest online emporium, vending downloadable software. The store is a co-venture with Ingram Micro and Preview Systems, respectively providers of technology products and digital goods.
Branded the Software Downloads Store, it specialises in tax, multimedia and anti-virus titles. The usual Amazon niceties are also on offer: a title search facility, customer critiques and personalization features.
Shoppers select and pay for their software and then receive an email with links to the websites from which their purchases can be downloaded.
