BDH\TBWA in Manchester has been handed the £20 million creative account of mobile phone retailer Phones 4U, and has resigned the conflicting Club Mobile account it has held for a year.

The same city’s office of MediaVest was simultaneously awarded the media buying task.

Phones 4U’s founder John Caudwell is looking to expand the operation rapidly, planning a £50m investment to double the current nationwide total of 100 stores by year-end. The agencies’ brief be to attract customer footfall in the company’s stores and encourage direct sales via TV, the internet, the press and affinity marketing.

Commented Phones 4U’s head of sales and marketing James Wright: “We operate in an intensely competitive area, so it's vital that we stand out. BDH has demonstrated the kind of strategic imagination we are looking for to achieve this.”
