French ad group Publicis is in discussions to buy New York-based medical marketing agency Nelson Communications.

Nelson has a client list of 200, handling brand management and sales promotion for leading pharmaceuticals companies and specialist medical consultancies.

The move is in line with chairman-ceo Maurice Levy’s bid to increase Publicis’ earnings in the USA. Levy also wants to boost marketing services revenues. These currently stand at 23% of global income, a figure he is determined to raise to 30% by 2002.
