Ondigital, the Carlton/Granada-owned terrestrial digital broadcaster, has announced a date for the long-awaited launch of its TV internet access service.

This will go live September 18 at a cost to existing subscribers of £5 per month. The subscription package includes unrestricted access to the web [unlike rival BSkyB which offers only a ‘walled garden’ service], a cordless keyboard, an enhancer box that sharpens-up web pages for the TV screen, plus video and voice-grab email.

Phone charges are extra, although ONdigital is offering a special BT deal charging only 1p a minute off-peak and 2p at all other times.
