Telewest Communications, the UK’s second largest cable network, and publicly-owned BBC yesterday announced a six-year deal whereby the cable company will carry BBC TV and radio channels on its new Active Digital service.

Although Telewest’s digital rollout has been badly affected by a dearth of set-top boxes, its current handful of digital subscribers will now benefit from DTV transmissions on BBC1, BBC2, BBC Choice, BBC News 24, BBC Knowledge and BBC Parliament plus all BBC radio and text channels.
