According to company insiders, James Murdoch, at 27 the youngest of Rupert Murdoch's four children, is to be appointed chairman and chief executive of News Corp-owned satellite service Star TV.

Formerly News Corp executive v-p in charge of digital-media assets and internet business investments, Murdoch minimus has been acting co-chairman since Gareth Chang quit as chairman and CEO earlier this year following “management differences” with Murdoch maximus.

With a claimed 80 million households across 53 countries, Star TV will become one of the largest assets encompassed by Platco, the company being formed by News Corp to hold its entire satellite portfolio, including stakes in BSkyB and Sky Latin America.
