A TV commercial designed to recruit nurses to Britain's dangerously understaffed National Health Service has been banned as ‘misleading’ by the Independent Television Commission following a complaint from The Royal College of Nursing.

The RCN argued that the ad had made many of its members “very angry” as it led the general public to believe that nurses were receiving “a lot more money than they are”. The commercial claimed that nurses’ average annual salary exceeded £20,000, whereas only senior nurses were paid that much.
