Dutch-based broadband internet group Chello is making its first foray into the Latin American market in a joint venture with local cable TV network VTR.

The new portal will offer local Spanish-language content in addition to international programming including animated films – a facility already available on Chello sites elsewhere.

VTR, whose network passes some 1.6m homes, claims 60% of the Chilean market. It is owned by United GlobalCom, also the ultimate controlling shareholder of Chello.
