As an unwitting swansong, the recently sacked consumer affairs and competition minister Nigel Griffiths met with representatives of Tesco and Asda to discuss the implications of the EC's ban on imports of cut-price designer goods from outside the European Union. He invited the retailers to compile a dossier of evidence with the objective of reversing the ban imposed earlier this month by the European Court of Justice.
