BEIJING: China's hitherto booming economy appears to be feeling the chill of the general global downturn. The nation's consumer confidence index slipped in the second quarter by 0.7 percentage points to 94.1, says the National Bureau of Statistics.
The index is also 2.7% lower than the same period last year.
It follows a cooling in the entrepreneurial confidence index and a lower business climate index, which fell 8.6 points to 137.4 points from last year's Q2.
The entrepreneurial index dipped 8.3 points to 134.8 points, compared with the same period last year.
