NEW YORK: A management suite shuffle at WPP Group's media agency network GroupM has ended with Alexander Schmidt-Vogel (pictured) named as global chief executive responsible for all trading activities.
Schmidt-Vogel, ceo of GroupM's MediaCom Worldwide, will be based in Berlin and will report to overall global head honcho Irwin Gotlieb and chief operating officer Rupert Day.
He will take over his new role during the next few weeks with oversight of the media-buying duties of all GroupM's units, including MindShare, Mediaedge:cia, MediaCom and Maxus.
Comments Gotlieb: "Alexander pioneered tactical and implementation planning practices and was the first to exploit the capability to improve client pricing in the marketplace.
"We are delighted that he has agreed to lead GroupM's trading operations around the world."
Schmidt-Vogel's successor as chairman/ceo of MediaCom Worldwide is GroupM UK ceo Steve Allan.
