NEW YORK: Facebook, Apple and Coke are among the favourite brands of US college students, according to the results of a recent survey by market research company Anderson Analytics.
In the annual poll of 18-24 year olds, Facebook trumped MySpace (last year's winner) as the most popular website, scoring 12.2% of the vote compared with its arch-rival's 6.8%.
While some 75% of respondents said they used social networking portals, MySpace was ranked as the second best website overall by women, but was outside the top five for men.
Apple was voted the second best brand by students, with its iPhone and new iPod the number one and number two most anticipated products respectively.
Coca-Cola was the most popular soft drink, Snickers the top candy and Old Navy the favourite clothing brand.
Auto insurer Geico produced both the favourite and most disliked ads among respondents, with campaigns for Apple, Axe and Burger King also registering at both ends of the popularity charts.
