ROUND ROCK, Texas: World number two computer maker Dell is to team with resellers and retailers to shift its product, ending its two-decade reliance on direct selling via phone and online.
The company, which lost its top spot in the PC market to Hewlett Packard last year, says: "We're going to take the indirect channel much more seriously," while ceo Michael Dell (pictured) is typically gung-ho about the new approach promising: "We're going to ramp it up quickly."
Separately, Dell has been formally indicted by New York attorney general Andrew Cuomo for fraud, false advertising and deceptive business practices to deceive consumers and hike product sales.
Company spokesman Bob Pearson ripostes: "We are confident that our practices will be found to be fair and appropriate."
