PARIS: French media and telecoms conglomerate Vivendi Universal is confident about its fortunes for 2007, despite a profits dive of 51% in the fourth quarter. The company, whose stable includes television broadcaster Canal Plus and Universal Music, says it expects adjusted net profit this year to be at least €2.7 billion ($3.5bn; £1.8bn).
Q4 net profit was €610m, down from €1.25 billion a year earlier when results were lifted by a tax credit and asset sales. Revenue increased 1.2% to €5.55bn on a mixed performance from its divisions.
