Media magnate Rupert Murdoch has been calling his troops to arms in the battle of the internet.
A meeting of top News Corporation executives was told by the commander-in-chief at a California summit that different parts of the media empire needed to start talking more to find further ways of collaborating online.
The summit also focused on how to turn NewsCorp's web properties into a hub for entertainment-related content.
One insider called the strategy an attempt to create an "entertainment Google" - a one-stop shop for all internet users looking for games, movies, music or chat online.
The meeting was the second gathering on the subject that Murdoch has called this year. The first, in February, resulted in the company forming an internet unit, Fox Interactive Media, to oversee its website interests.
Since then it has announced the $580 million (€472m; £318m) acquisition of Intermix Media, which operates a social networking site; bid $60m for Scout Media, which publishes sports websites; and last week unveiled a $650m takeover of IGN Entertainment, an internet video game information company. It is also in talks with privately owned search engine Blinkx.
