Chuck Fruit (58), until March Coca-Cola's most senior marketer, is planning to quit the beverage behemoth, according to insiders.
Fruit's fall from the branch could take place by end the end of this year - although other voices say he was planning to retire before his promotion to global chief marketing officer in June last year.
His intended quittance was confirmed by default when a Coke spoke told Advertising Age: "Chuck has not made any decisions as to when he plans to leave."
Fruit was effectively demoted earlier this year when Coke chairman/ceo Neville Isdell appointed Asia group president Mary Minnick as evp and president of marketing, strategy and innovation [WAMN: 24-Mar-05].
Fruit now reports to Minnick as opposed to Isdell - a situation that can hardly have pleased him, albeit one over which he has made no public comment.
