More encouraging economic news stateside as the US Commerce Department announce a 1.7% increase in orders received by factories during June. This follows a 0.3% rise in May.
The upward trend extended to most sectors, household appliances and cars being among those benefiting; also machinery and non-durables like food products and chemicals.
The department also issued an upward correction to its June projection for the construction industry. This sees construction expenditure increasing to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $872.5 billion (€767.67bn; £541.09bn) as opposed to its earlier estimate of $864.3bn.
