Agency mammoth Omnicom Group this week proceeded with the slimming of its executive board announced last month [WAMN: 15-Apr-02].
In a bid to give greater influence to external directors, seven members have left the board and one – Robert Clark, dean of Harvard University Law School – elected onto it at the group’s annual shareholder meeting.
Two of the departing directors – Allen Rosenshine (chairman/ceo, BBDO) and Keith Reinhard (chairman, DDB) – stepped down part way through their terms.
The other five – Michael Greenlees (executive vp, Omnicom), Jean-Marie Dru (president/ceo, TBWA), Thomas Harrison (chairman/ceo, Diversified Agency Services), Bernard Brochand (vice chairman, DDB) and Jim Cannon (vice chairman/chief financial officer, BBDO) – did not put themselves forward for re-election when their terms expired.
The reshuffle reduces the board’s size from 17 members to 11, only two of which – Omnicom ceo John Wren and chairman Bruce Crawford – come from within the agency group.
