INTRODUCTION

Ten years ago the main field of activity for the information specialist fell within the scientific and technical areas, with extreme importance given to patents. The resulting monitoring of scientific and technical areas of activity has gradually led to competitor monitoring: having detected the major actors within a precise sector because they filed patents we wanted to know their real market weight. We therefore organized a systematic monitoring of the competitors, characterized by a competitive intelligence tracking system.
