Facebook, Twitter, Cheil and GroupM: Digital trends at the 2012 Cannes Lions

At this year's Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, much of the talk among delegates centered on the various tech giants that were in town to give seminars, throw parties and pick up awards.

On the Lions stage, Google joined rather more established ad industry names BBH, CP+B and R/GA as a Grand Prix winner for 2012, taking the top award in the Mobile category for its 'Hilltop Re-Imagined' work with Johannes Leonardo New York. Meanwhile, on the conference floor, digital firms' popularity was signalled by the number of delegates wanting to hear them speak. Queues began to form for the Facebook and Twitter seminars well over half an hour before they began, making the presentations among the most popular of the whole Festival.
