US supermarket chain Kmart is hunting a new senior vp of advertising and marketing following last week’s sudden resignation of Larry Davis.

Davis, who is to become managing director of rival supermarketeer Target in Australia, had been with the firm five years, and played an important part in last year’s agency review, won by TBWA/Chiat/Day in New York [WAMN: 26-Sep-00].

His exit follows the resignation in May of chief marketing officer Brent Willis after a mere six months in the role.

No timetable for finding a replacement for Davis has been disclosed, and it is thought Kmart ceo Charles Conaway will look outside the company.

TBWA’s hold on the account is not thought to be under threat following the departure, as the agency enjoys a close relationship with Conaway.
