British liquor and wines multinational Allied Domecq has signed a 10-year deal to market and distribute Stolichnaya vodka in the USA, adding to its portfolio a brand it describes as a “plank that the company currently lacks”.

From January 1, Allied Domecq will take over the development of the brand in the US.

Stolichnaya, owned by Russian company Soyuzplodimport, is the USA’s second largest imported premium vodka, shifting over a million cases per year.

Allied Domecq claims the contract will not dampen its determination to win the current auction for Seagram’s wine and spirits portfolio.
