Head of brand communications at NatWest Bank Ian Schoolar is to transfer his persuasive skills to an organisation that many believe to be already over-endowed with such qualities – the Inland Revenue.

Schoolar will take up his new appointment as director of marketing and communications at Hector’s grandiose Somerset House abode in January, leaving behind him a question mark over the bank’s lead agency, TBWA\London, at which he recently consolidated the bank’s ad business.

But in the wake of the Royal Bank of Scotland’s acquisition of NatWest earlier this year by, the shadow of M&C Saatchi has been looming increasingly large over TBWA as it snatches a number of one-off advertising projects from beneath the incumbent’s nose.
