NEW YORK: Agency planners wanting work rewarded by their peers have just hours to act, as today (Monday) marks the official closing date for entries to the 4As' 2009 Jay Chiat Awards.

The program – which "recognizes excellence in strategic thinking that resulted in a creative expression" – has eight categories all open to entries from international markets in 2009.

Just two of them cover traditional advertising and marketing, reflecting the industry's migration to new platforms and innovative approaches.

"The Jay Chiat Awards will play a much more central role in showcasing strategic excellence in all its guises. We hope ... for them to become the industry leading awards they deserve to be," explained William Charnock, the awards chair.

The winners will be announced at the 4As' Account Planning conference in early August. Last year's Grand Prix went to JWT India for its De Beers Diamond Bride campaign, together with gold awards to Goodby, Silverstein & Partners for Rolling Rock and BETC Euro RSCG for eBay France.
