LONDON: Sony Ericsson's corporate vp/head of marketing Dee Dutta (pictured) is quitting the company, reportedly without another job in prospect.

Sony, likewise, does not appear to have a successor lined up and says it will announce Dutta's replacement "in due course".

Dutta, who joined the cellphone manufacturer in 2002, will leave next week having served in his present role since a restructure in November 2006.

Whatever the circumstances of his departure, the traditional exchange of eulogies marked the parting of the ways.

Intoned Sony Ericsson president Dick Komiyama: "Dutta has made an outstanding contribution to the growth of the Sony Ericsson brand and our sponsorship in tennis."

Responded Dutta: "This has been a wonderful journey of both personal and professional growth for me. I am very proud of the achievements that my team and I have made in growing the brand and look forward to the next challenge in my career."
