LONDON: UK-headquartered brewer SABMiller has inked an €816 million ($1.2bn; £584m) deal to buy Royal Grolsch, maker of the Dutch lager.
SAB Miller, also rumoured to be interested in the bidding battle for Edinburgh brewer Scottish & Newcastle, intends to roll out Grolsch across the emerging African and Latin American markets, according to ceo Graham Mackay.
Cfo Malcolm Wyman says the brand will complement the brewer's Peroni and Pilsner Urquell lagers, but is coy about the company's S&N intentions.
He did, however, say the Grolsch deal will "not change anything else we might want to do".
