SHANGHAI: UK-headquartered advertising agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty has opened an office in Shanghai. It will be headed by Arto Hampartsoumian, former managing director of Wieden & Kennedy Tokyo.

BBH China has already developed a client portfolio and the agency will manage local campaigns for clients such as Diageo's Baileys brand, Bose, Johnnie Walker, Mentos and the World Gold Council.

Says BBH chairman and worldwide creative director John Hegarty: "With a population just above 1.3 billion, the potential that China presents to an international ad agency like BBH, as well as what we can offer in terms of pushing the limits of creativity, is phenomenal."

The independent agency is one in a long list of advertising networks that have expanded into the Chinese market this year, among them WPP Group's Ogilvy & Mather, Omnicom and Publicis Groupe.
