Candy, pet care and food giant Masterfoods USA plans to hand the $350 million (€302m; £207m) media duties for its diverse range of brands to a single agency.

"We are looking at consolidating our food, snack and pet care business," declared the group, whose assets include the Mars confectionery brands and Pedigree petfoods. "The goal is driving increased effectiveness of our marketing investment."

It is thought the review will be restricted to roster shops. These include the New York offices of MediaVest, Zenith Media, OMD, Mediaedge:cia and MediaCom.
