London advertising shop Bartle Bogle Hegarty, 49% owned by Publicis Groupe, lived up to its innovative reputation with the launch this week of Leap Music, a new music publishing venture that’ll specialize in finding and signing new tuneful talent suited to TV commercials.[Does WAMN scent a nascent trend?]

BBH’s TV work frequently uses pop music – some of it primeval, dating back to the 80s – as its thematic core, viz commercials for Levi Strauss, KFC and certain Unilever brands such as male toiletries range Lynx.

BBH owns 75% of Leap, former Zomba Music executive Richard Kirstein the balance. He is managing director of the new unit.
