Direct insurer Eagle Star, a unit of Zurich Financial Services, is reviewing its £10m through-the-line account following the arrival in London last November of new head of marketing Hein Kuiper.

Requests for proposals have been sent to a number of t-t-l shops including eight-year incumbent Brann, whose imminent merger with fellow Havas unit ehsrealtime to form EHS Brann will be finalized before the month end.

Eagle Star’s direct to consumer sales operation offers a range of insurance products including life cover, home, motor, and travel – marketed primarily via direct mail with some media advertising support. The company’s commercial business is not part of the review.

Explains Kuiper, who launched Royal & Sun-Alliance's direct operation in Germany before joining Zurich: “We are looking at a range of options for the business, and it is too early to say whether we will appoint one agency or split the account for separate advertising and DM requirements. However, the likelihood is that we will keep it all under one roof.”
