USA Networks and its cable offshoot Sci-Fi Channel are seeking to consolidate their combined media planning and buying business within a single agency.

The move comes after July’s appointment of Briton Michael Jackson, former boss of that nation’s Channel 4 network, over the head of USAN’s boss of programming Stephen Chao, who this week announced he is quitting the group.

The account, worth in excess of $20 million annually according to CMR, is currently spread among a number of shops including MediaCom (part of the Grey Global network) and Omnicom’s OMD.

The search, currently conducted on an informal basis by consultant Adam Stotsky, has not reach the stage of seeking formal proposals
