Lowdown: Social listening

Social listening tools are one of the many 'new shiny things' that have ridden on the back of the rise of social networks. Their aim is to 'listen' to the conversations people are having, typically across Twitter, blogs and forums and report useful information back. This information focuses on 'buzz'; how many people are talking about your product/service, where, whether it is positive or negative and the themes within the discussions.
