After the conclusion of what was an enormously successful XXX Olympiad held in London, I feel compelled to make some observations about what Britain's staging of the 2012 Olympic Games, and in particular the spectacular Opening Ceremony, says about Brand Britain and its place in the world.

In some small way, the Olympics is an early indicator of the world we are moving into. Just as in world power and in business, China is increasingly the defining force in the economic landscape, the London Olympic Organising Committee...
