This paper offers an overview of the 100 years the ANA has been in existence. It incorporates events in society, politics, science, culture and marketing, and also includes a short history of the day in 1910 the ANA was founded.
(Originally, the ANA's charter was created by just 45 US advertising managers.) It also provides a snapshot of the advertising industry in 1910 by compiling data from Printers' Ink: yearly adspend was $616m, with the largest three media newspapers ($250m), direct mail ($100m) and farm & mail order ($75m).
