What makes the DVR or PVR different from the traditional VCR is ease of recording, navigation and the degree of control over content — particularly the ability to time-shift and the amount of content that can be saved. Time-shifting is a major advantage to viewers — either to view programs automatically pre-recorded, or pause live TV and rejoin the action where they left off. An additional viewer advantage, however, is the ability to fast-forward through advertising....
