CONTEXT / BACKGROUND

Overall, Northern Ireland's road death rate is the highest in the United Kingdom, but lower than the European Union's EU-25 average. The Republic of Ireland (ROI) has a higher rate than Northern Ireland (NI) but lower than the European Union's EU-25 average (see Figure 1).
