In June 1980, Ted Turner, owner of the Turner Broadcast System (TBS), launched Cable News Network (CNN), the first nationwide 24-hour news station. Eighteen months later, Turner followed this with another launch, this time of CNN Headline News, the third station (the WTBS Superstation being the first) in his growing television empire.
To launch CNN Headline News and promote Cable News Network, Paul Bissonette, TBS vice president for advertising and promotion, along with TBS's advertising agency, McDonald and Little of Atlanta, devised the launch campaign, "Only CNN Gave Justice O'Connor...
