Oscar Mayer Foods, a subsidiary of Kraft Foods, Inc., after 1989, was the leader in processed meats in the United States for much of the twentieth century. The Madison, Wisconsin-based maker of hot dogs, bacon, and luncheon and other meats built its brand with innovative marketing and top-quality products. By the 1970s most Americans knew the Oscar Mayer name, thanks in large part to a wildly successful advertising jingle for Oscar Mayer wieners. The jingle, which gained popularity through the 1960s, brought the company national acclaim.
