How to Run a Better Brainstorming Session

There can be no word in business more mis-used than 'brainstorming'. Any meeting of a few people kicking around a subject tends to be labelled brainstorming. Good brainstorming is purposeful activity where a group of variously interested, un-interested, expert and less expert participants gather to solve a problem. Without a specific problem to solve, the session and the ideas will be aimless. Without a good balance of people, the session will be one-sided.
