Every day, in our homes and our businesses, we use the web more. The strain is too much for old 56K modems. Long, frustrating waits and engaged phone lines become the norm. So why not switch to broadband? Well, in rural areas of Britain, broadband coverage is almost nonexistent. It costs a lot of money to build the broadband infrastructure, and unless demand is high enough the telecoms companies will not foot the bill.
