Birmid Qualcast has traditionally dominated the UK lawnmower market with its cylinder machines.

For many years technology changed little, allowing Qualcast to refine its production skills as well as the quality of its mowers, becoming a very efficient cylinder mower producer.

But the development of the hover rotary mower was to become a major marketing innovation.In the mid-1960s, Flymo, with 15 years of patent protection ahead of it, introduced its revolutionary rotary grass cutting hover mower.
