A single job post from NASA last year called for qualified LinkedIn members to apply for the chance to become an astronaut.

Data scientists at LinkedIn found that three million of its 467 million members met the basic criteria for this unique role, Connie Chan Wang – Social Media and Content Marketing Lead at the business-orientated social network – informed delegates at GSMI's 2016 Social Media Strategies Summit in San Francisco.

And when 20,000 candidates submitted formal applications to NASA, it represented the highest number of applicants the space program...
