Not being aware of Daniel Kahneman is something of an anathema to planners these days, but in 2010, I wasn't. He was the first speaker to walk out onto the TED stage and I listened to him as a stranger – this old man with a half-Israeli accent and, oddly for TED, a lectern. After his talk, when Chris Anderson thanked him for inventing behavioural economics, I realised he was a thing. Four days later I still thought he was the best speaker that year.
