There could not be a more challenging category than the Irish automotive market, but for Renault, this wasn't the only challenge. Not only were people not buying new cars, they weren't buying Renaults. The category was fiercely competitive. Japanese manufacturers benefited as cautious consumers opted for the peace of mind of 7-year warranties. German manufacturers exploited their reliability heritage.
