Global sponsorship expenditure is forecast to rise 4.5% to $62.8 billion worldwide in 2017, accounting for 6% of global marketing spend. North America is forecast to be the largest sponsorship region, with $23.2 billion in spend this year, a 4.0% increase from 2016. Then follows Europe on $16.7bn, and Asia-Pacific on $15.7bn. In North America, sports is expected to take more than 70% of total sponsorship spend in 2016. PepsiCo is the biggest brand sponsor, spending $372.5 million in 2015, up 4.2% from a year earlier.
