The iAd network is Apple's ‘in app’ advertising platform which runs on iPhone, iPad and iPodTouch. This represents a global audience of several million highly engaged consumers. In total, they have installed more than 10 billion applications and, on average, spend 49 minutes a day using apps.
iAds appear as tiny banners at the top or bottom of the screen but when tapped, they can become highly immersive and allow the use of video and interactive features, much like a mini website. Because iAds are built into the operating system, iOS4, it also allows you to access much of the core functionality of the iPhone. This means you can do things such as download iTunes content, access GPS and map data, open web pages, send emails, access the calendar and save graphics.
