The tradeoff to the convenience of online shopping has been the forfeiture of instant gratification — the joyful thrill of walking out of a store with purchase in hand. But as e-commerce continues to grow (a 2014 eMarketer forecast predicts it will account for 8.8 percent of the global retail market by 2018), some retailers are trying to combine the best of both experiences by offering same-day delivery services for online purchases.
