Strategic Inflection Points. Key Changes in Marketing Practice and their Implications for the Automobile Industry

INTRODUCTION

Andrew Groves, cofounder of Intel Corporation, recently coined the term strategic inflection points to: 'represent what happens to a business when a major change takes place in its competitive environment A strategic inflection point causes you to make a fundamental change in business strategy' (Puffer 1999, p. 16). Groves said that a major challenge is to identify what is a strategic inflection point from all the other changes that impact on a business.
