INTRODUCTION

The new millennium has heralded many exciting predictions about how the business environment will change, leading to new ways of working. There has been much talk about remote home working replacing the office culture of the last century, the creation of a new flexible workforce and strides towards a greater balance between work and the rest of our lives. We hope that our paper will contribute to this discussion by considering all the elements of this multi-faceted debate. We will create a model of the key drivers changing the way organisations structure the workplace. Our ultimate goal is to predict what will really happen in the workplace in the next few decades by carefully considering the various drivers to change and how organisations are likely to react to them.
