1 JONATHAN LIVINGSTON SEAGULL

By Richard Bach Published by Element, 2003 (reissue)

I read this book decades ago, but the attitude it provided me with then still holds true. Bored with daily fights over food and seized by an undying passion for flight, Jonathan, a seagull, pushes himself, learning everything he can about flying, until his unwillingness to conform results in his expulsion from the flock. He continues to try to find a better world through the perfection of knowledge, a desire to never stop learning and sheer tenacity. He is finally joined by others, who learn from him and teach him in the process. There is a pressing need in our business, to seek a new Jonathan every hour, if not every minute.
